Blurry technique

This was from oil painting class a couple weeks ago. The teacher did a pretty interesting thing. He took a slide projector and forced it out of focus severly and had us all paint very quickly the blurred images. Basically just splashing color down. Then every 20 miin or so he'd sharpen the image a little until it was in focus. We did 2 paintings that day. It was very fun and pretty interesting to do. The idea being that it forced us to just look at shapes and colors and not get hung up on the little details.
