Here it is, I think I'm nearly done. I'll probabaly keep messing with spots but this is about it. 

Last night's class was great. There's still a ton of work and details to do on this but it's at least starting to look like something. The hands are a definite challenge and I gotta fix something with her left elbow/arm. The floorboards are still completely untouched too. 

Last night was a good class. Mostly all lab that I spent blending in the highlights of white charcoal into the background to kinda establish the light and dark extremes. The I started on the legs.  

OK, here's where the tough stuff starts. I started shading in the highlights with brightest whites first to establish the highest value. No blending yet, just application. 

Here's the inked in grid and line drawing. After inking then the lines get traced on the back using white charcoal that will get transferred to the real Canson paper.

Assignment #2 I'm starting the linework and gridding to draw this pic. It's going to be White charcoal on a dark Canson Mi-Tientes paper.

1st Assignment

Howdy, OK here's my first assignment so far. It's going waaaay better than I ever expected. This pic is blurry but you get the idea. I'll post a better pic when I get the drawing back from the teacher. Basically the idea here was to study light, shadows and the value of light in between to create the illusion of object depth and volume. Click on any images to enlarge them. I found the Canson paper at Aaron Brothers Art store. I was a little surprised since it seemed like it would be a little bit specialized.
